About Us

Sail & Power provides fun watersport activities as well as professional local & international watersport certifications for the whole family!

We offer a wide range of fun watersports and watersport training such as dinghy sailing, windsurfing, personal watercraft(jetski) & powerboating and cater for kids and adults alike.

A professional and safe environment where kids and adults can try their hand at various fun watersports and even gain local & internationally accredited qualifications!

Staff

The Skipper

peterPeter Daly Peter Daly is the Owner and principal; he is the only RYA Powerboat and Personal Watercraft Trainer in Africa. His 30 plus years of teaching watersports including Sailing yachts, Motor yachts and powerboating / Personal watercraft gives the centre excellent leadership, offering clients the best training available.

Peter has been teaching in England, Wales, France, Spain, South Africa and running expedition's including 4 months in Patagonia Chile. In addition Peter has skippered various yachts for charter work and deliveries.

Any outdoor activity is on the list to try, he enjoys sailing, windsurfing, snow skiing, golf and spending time with the family, all of which happens when he gets the time. Peter is happily married to Yolanda and they have the most wonderful son William.

michellleMichelle Please welcome Michelle to Sail and Power SA. Her appointment as Operations manager will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Michelle will be every ones point of contact from students to instructors and anyone needing up to date advice about the industry. Her last appointment was on the Motor Yacht Five Waves 115 ft based in Miami and The Hamptons. As the Deck manager she looked after the yacht, tenders and Jet Ski's for the owners.

Prior to joining Sail and Power SA Michelle managed marketing and Accounts for national companies in Southern Africa. As we settle down for the summer you may find her teaching Powerboat and PWC courses.
 


simon Simon He has been working in the superyacht industry and delivering yachts around the world for almost 10 years. His knowledge comes from starting out as a deckhand then Bosun and skipper working on both sail and motor yachts in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Palm Beach with several Atlantic crossings delivering new Leopard yachts.

Simon has been instructing for many years and offers a wealth of knowledge about the industry and the courses he teaches. These include Powerboat level 2, PWC (Jet Ski) navigation training, and miles building. Simon also Skippers various motor yachts in the V&A waterfront.
 


richard Richard Has been sailing most of his life and enjoys imparting his knowledge onto others as it is a great opportunity to escape from the busy world of running the leading yacht and charter company in the V&A waterfront. Richard instructs all the powerboat courses, PWC (Jet Ski) VHF radio and Navigation.
 


robin Robin is a family man with a young son. Over the years he has sailed in the Mediterranean and Caribbean and done 4 Atlantic crossings. Qualifications include; Yachtmaster Ocean (Power and Sail), Cruising Instructor (Power and Sail), Started sailing in '98. Recently Robin gained his Powerboat and Personal Watercraft instructor’s certificates under the training of Peter Daly and Laurence West. He is currently serving as the Chief Officer on a 45m 3 masted schooner in Dubai. When on leave he joins us for a few weeks to impart his knowledge while teaching powerboating and PWC (Jet Ski).
 


vincentVincent sailed catamarans and yachts from the age of 15. Started sailing career at Central Boating in 1975 for seven years, rigging yachts and sales dept. Switched to windsurfing, opening the first custom sailboard shop in Cape Town S A for the legendary guru of surfing, Hobie cats, Morey boogie body boards the late John Whitmore. Designing and manufacturing windsurfing components for local and export market for 10 years. Passionate about teaching sailing and water sports.
 


danielDaniel has a passion for sailing and windsurfing. Has been involved in windsurfing from the age of 10. He is part of the National Pro Racing series and often ends up on the podium. Daniel is also a lifeguard at the Big Bay lifesaving club. Daniel hopes to gain more experience and work in Europe and Caribbean in the future. He has own business producing custom longboards and is often helping out on Promenade Mondays.
 


moniqueMonique Looks after our Facebook and social media requirements. We met through her passion for watersports when she came to us for a Windsurfing lesson. Since then she has been coordinating our requirements in the social media fields.


Hout Bay Yacht Club,Youth development programme
We are pleased to welcome these experienced sailors into our trainee programme.

Sea Cadets, Muizenberg,The cadets are on a sailing and windsurfing programme which is running from beginners to advanced. We hope that some of them can start helping as trainees very soon.
 


yolandibabyYolanda is the rock of the business keeping all the admin running smoothly and managing the daily activities. She keeps me in check and looks after our wonderful son, William.

For the future development of watersports we need active partners. The partners are not all just about funding, we need access to a wide range of business and resources to allow the centres to develop.
